Detail: Battleground is a fresh, groundbreaking monthly event at which talent from the Tampa Bay area will come to prove themselves within their chosen medium, capturing Hip-Hop culture at its best--underground and unsigned. Each event will feature a professional, unsigned Hip-Hop artist, a DJ spinning Hip-Hop, cyphering/freestying, open mic for original music only, and competitions. Competitions will change monthly to showcase a different Hip-Hop art form, including turntablism/scratching, breakdance, beatbox, graffitti, etc. Every month there will also be an MC battle with a cash prize. If an MC wins 3 or more battles in a row he/she is awarded the Battleground Crystal Mic trophy, designed and created by a local glass artist, and will be featured in the Battleground grand finale. The year will culminate with a big production involving all winners from all genres of the Battleground competitions.
